Touchy… Touchy…
I won’t call myself a bookworm but I do like reading and I read a lot. “P.S I love you” written by Cecelia Ahern is one of the books that enchanted my heart that I am here penning few lines about it. The story is about a young couple – Holly and Gerry. Gerry dies soon after their wedlock ailing with brain tumor. Holly, after his death receives a package from him for an year to open one every month. The story is all about how well Gerry has planned for the recuperation of his dear wife after his demise. Holly does all that is being instructed and learns to live with his memory happily and with the radiant hope to make many more memories afresh. The story is well written expressing the practical events of life that lets the reader to grieve along with Holly – One epitome is their petty fights like whose turn it is to turn off the light every night before sleeping. While thinking about our loved ones, isn’t the small things like this make our life so beautiful? Tears trickled down my eyes at few places:
* Holly in need of few pennies to pay for the library would have picked her mobile and will be totally lost whom to call for help. All her friends and relatives are busy and happy with their own life that she didn’t want to disturb. Then she calls someone so dear to her ever - To Gerry’s mobile to hear his recorded voice and says “I need you so much Gerry. I miss you”. Gerry is the one who always had come running to sort out all her problems and she misses him terribly when he no longer is there in the world with her.
* Holly does a karaoke performance and it wouldn’t be all that great as she is far from good singing. A person knowing that it is for her husband she has made such an endeavor asks her if he is around. And she says, “Yes. He is somewhere around, watching”. Later the same person gets to know that he is no more and asks her why she told him earlier that he was somewhere there. And she says, “He sure was there that day” and she puts her palm on her heart.
Such a lovely story!!! Touchy than the other love stories I’ve read. Sometimes the depth of our love, we realize when it is a lip-deeper. We realize it when we miss our loved ones more than the moment we hear them say “I love you”. I really laughed and cried with Holly. I would add this novel to the must-read list. This is also made as a movie but somehow I liked the book more than the movie. Cheers to Cecelia!
