My first valentines day…
Unlike everyone else, I had my first valentines day on a September day. I was well dressed in a saree for the eve. All my friends were in full josh. I was all the more excited as it was my best friends wedding engagement. We were so early to the party hall and we were seated in a row. We were all too engrossed in gossiping, inborn trait in gals as always :) I was so anxiously waiting for the bride and the groom to go on stage as I was dying to see them both together in their wedding attire. There was a small gal who could be around 5 to 6 years old was seated just a row in front of us. I was chit-chatting, pulling legs and giggling and the gal was looking at me and smiling. I smiled back and she constantly turned around, looked at me and kept smiling and every time, I smiled back. Then I realized that her mom did not let her go around and play with the other kids as unlike rest of the kids, she was retarded. I tried to talk to her but she could not understand what I spoke. I did not try further as I thought it could be disturbing to her. After a while, I forgot seeing a kid like her as I was so busy talking to my friends. Suddenly I realized someone pulling my saree. I turned around to see the same small gal holding a red rose for me. That moment, I can't say how I felt. I was on cloud nine. I got the rose, kissed her on the forehead and said thanks. She did not speak back and went back to her seat. I was so happy to be her valentine that evening and I still think of my first valentines day :)
